Register Company Name – SSM Malaysia

Any company wishing to be registered in Malaysia must apply to search for a company name first or to register a new company or to change the name of the company and if it is established that the name to be applied will has not yet been registered, then the letter of approval of the company name will be issued by the Secretary (SSM).

The name of the company that has been approved must be registered as a company within one month from the date of approval of the name issued by the Commission Service to the Malaysian companies. Information relating to the change of name can be obtained from Section 28 of the Companies Act 2016, as indicated below.

Application to Change the Company Name

The company may request a modification of the company name by doing a preliminary search for a company name and, if the name you wish to apply is allowed, the letter of approval of the name change will be issued by the SSM. The name of the company that has been approved must be registered within one month from the date of approval of the name issued, and if the name change is duly registered, a change will be changed to change the company name. Information on changing the company name can be obtained from section 28 of the Companies Act 2016, as shown below:

1. (a) For a public company, the word "Berhad" or the abbreviation "BHD".
2. (b) for a private company, the word "Sendirian Berhad" or the abbreviation "SDN. BHD "
3.  (c) For an unlimited company the word "Sendirian" or the abbreviation "SDN" \ t

The company may have as its name

1. Available name or
2. Any expression as defined by the registrar after its incorporation
