Start a Bookshop Business in Sri Lanka

Bookstores can be found across the country, from small towns to major cities, although electronic books, audio books, and digital magazines come into use, but many people still enjoy shopping and reading traditional, printed books. A bookstore is a type of retail business that can run in a variety of ways, usually more money than is customary for opening a store. If you love books and want to become an entrepreneur, it can be the ideal way to open a bookstore.

  1. Find a place for your bookstore. For example, you can sell used books, educational books and supplies or books for children. If you choose to sell online, choose a special place, such as religion, sports books, or books on cookbooks.
  2. Get the necessary permission in your city to start your retail business. This may include a designated certificate or DBA, the identification number of the owner, a real license or sale, and may include a tax permit.
  3. Save one place to sell your book. Elections include a brick and mortar store, a food market or a market, online auction or e-commerce. Starting online is currently expensive and you can expand physical storage when you have established business.
  4. If you sell online, wipe the storage space for your books. A business warehouse or warehouse will be free, or in a place that is dry and dust free, pets and scents will work well.
  5. Organize your books logically if you want to open a flour store or sell it on a brutal market. Example: Create a separate book box for children, one section for self-help books and business and garden titles close to each other. This makes shopping for the customer easier.
  6. Develop community programs or initiatives that will help you with public relations. It depends on whether your store is online or physical. For example, once a week, you can give a free story for children, donate additional books for low-income families, discourage military personnel, or allow non-profit groups to meet in your shop.
  7. Join the Book Distribution Association, such as the American Books Association, contact suppliers and learn more about your industry. You can also be a client who is calling for their membership in the directory.
